I LOVE ENTERTAINING OTHERS WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL - IT IS SUCH AN HONOUR TO HAVE PEOPLE PAY TO HEAR ME SING AND DO MY STUPID HUMOUR

Writing

Stories for Screen, Stage, and Page

I write character-led drama built around unusual ideas, moral questions and the consequences of human choices.

My work ranges from contemporary and speculative television drama to feature films, stage plays and children’s narrative non-fiction. Whatever the form, I am interested in people first: how they behave under pressure, what they conceal, what they misunderstand, and how apparently small decisions can change the lives of others.

My background spans professional management, performance, broadcasting and live entertainment. Years spent as an actor have inevitably shaped the way I write — particularly my approach to dialogue, character, rhythm and what can be communicated without being said.

Selected Screen & Television Work

C.I.T.E.

Television drama series | 10 × 60 minutes

A specialist UN advisory unit monitors changes in public language for signs that influence may be developing into behavioural harm. When a catastrophic act of violence is linked to an unseen chain of influence, the team must reconstruct what happened using only open-platform evidence — and confront the uncomfortable possibility that the same person can profoundly help many while inadvertently harming a few.

The first series is complete.

Professional screenplay coverage: Recommend — 99th percentile.

THE HELD

International television drama | 10 × 60 minutes

People who have been declared dead begin returning to life.

What initially appears to be a series of impossible medical anomalies becomes a global problem encompassing burial, cremation, legal identity, medical ethics, government preparedness and the increasingly urgent question of how long the living should wait before accepting that somebody is truly gone.

The complete ten-episode story follows Professor Priya Sharma as she searches for a scientific explanation while governments are forced to make decisions before certainty exists.

GRANGE ROAD

Feature screenplay

Following the death of his mother, Billy Harrison reluctantly returns to the Bermondsey house in which he grew up and begins discovering that the family history he thought he understood was considerably more complicated — and considerably more loving — than he knew.

A warm, funny and ultimately emotional story about grief, family, belonging, secrets and the different ways in which people make a home.

civilian mistrust

Television thriller | 10 × 60 minutes

In the shadow of American military bases in rural East Anglia, the disappearance of a USAF serviceman draws a former Army chaplain into a world of intelligence manipulation, manufactured threats and institutional mistrust.

What begins as a missing-person investigation develops into a much larger question: what happens when the organisations charged with protecting the public discover that fear itself can be useful?

THE EGREGIOUS INDEX

Television drama | 10 × 60 minutes

A documentary-style near-future drama examining an apparently radical British experiment in criminal justice.

As a controversial national pilot attempts to address prison overcrowding, reoffending and rehabilitation, the series follows offenders, victims, politicians and those administering a system in which every decision produces consequences — some intended, some not.

WRITING FOR STAGE

Alongside my screenwriting, I write for theatre.

My stage work shares many of the preoccupations of my screen projects: moral uncertainty, human behaviour, humour in unexpected places and characters forced to reconsider what they thought they knew.

Projects include an adaptation of C.I.T.E. as a stage thriller alongside original plays developed specifically for live performance.

WRITING FOR CHILDREN

I am also the creator and writer of OUR P.A.L.S. BOOKS — Planet’s Amazing Living Species, a series of illustrated narrative non-fiction books introducing children to remarkable animals and the real environments in which they live.

Each story follows an individual young animal through a factually grounded adventure, combining storytelling, humour and natural history while encouraging curiosity about the living world.

Philip the Puffin, Finlay the Ferret, Marnie the Monarch and Popsie the African Penguin are among the completed titles.
